Automated Single Stream Recycling Collection

Place Single Stream Recycling container with wheels toward curb by 6:00 a.m. on collection day - Please place can four feet from any object including additional automated cans.

All recycling must be rinsed clean and placed into the Single Stream Recycling container.  Automated trashcans filled with recycling will not be collected.  Recycling mixed with trash will not be collected.  Lids and caps from bottles and jars are to be placed in the normal household trash.  Materials included in collection are aluminum cans (beer, soda, etc.), tin cans, plastic containers (milk, water, juice, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, laundry detergent, etc.); glass bottles and jars (clear, brown or green); corrugated cardboard, junk mail and newspaper.  All recyclable materials are to be commingled and placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the assigned recycling day.

Do not use twine on paper/corrugated cardboard/junk mail recycling – Do not place plastic bags of any kind in this container.  No garbage. No un-rinsed containers.  No bottle caps.   No jar lids.  No Styrofoam.


None of the following will be collected: 

Foil cooking trays, flower pots, margarine tubs, yogurt or peanut butter containers, light bulbs, window glass, blue glass, ceramic, mirrors or stemware.  No waxed corrugated boxes such as pizza boxes, cereal boxes, gift boxes or beverage containers will be collected.  Styrofoam packing peanuts will not be collected by Stafford Township; however, they can be taken to The U.P.S. Store in the Stafford Square Shopping Center, or bagged and placed in the automated container for regular trash collection. Grass clippings, hay and garden debris are to be bagged and placed into the automated trash container for normal trash collection. 


Failure to separate your recycling from trash may result in a fine up to $500.00*

Leaving household trash at the recycling center is considered illegal dumping and a fine will be issued**


Safe Syringe Disposal: 

The Southern Ocean County Hospital offers diabetic or injection dependent individuals proper disposal of syringe and lancets located at SOCH The Ocean Club, 700 Rt. 9 So., Manahawkin, NJ. For further information, call 978-3559, Family Resource Center.

If the assigned trash day overlaps the recycling day, both containers are to be placed four (4) feet apart and at the curb by 6:00 a.m.

THERE WILL BE NO RECYCLING COLLECTION ON THANKSGIVING THURSDAY, NOV. 24 OR THANKSGIVING FRIDAY, NOV. 25.
