The playground area of Manahawkin has been plagued with drainage issues. The fibar (safety surfacing) in the tot-lot play area did not drain properly and held water within the safety surfacing. Many times the area was unasable due to the flooding conditions.
The Department of Public Works, Buildings and Grounds and Road Divisions installed more than 500 feet of 1.5" x 12" drainage pipe throughout the play area. The drain field will recharge the water back into the ground within the park area.
