PRESS INFORMATION RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The 2011 Ocean County Chiefs of Police Pistol Match awards banquet was recently held on March 26, 2012 at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Toms River.
Several members of the Stafford Township Police were recipients of awards. The Department garnered first place finishes in the two man and four man team events along with the Tobias Match. Additionally, department members took home second place finishes in the Distinguished Expert, Tobias, and 4 Man Team events. Third place finishes went out to Stafford officers for the Distinguished Expert, Two Man Team, Chiefs Steel Challenge, and Fun Match.
The competition has three main purposes the first being testing firearm proficiency. The match consisted of four separate courses of fire, utilizing the departmentally issued weapons. The competition raises the stress level of each competitor allowing for an evaluation under pressure. Next this competition brings officers from different agencies together and allows for informal interaction and a casual exchange of ideas. The third benefit is the motivation and pride that the competition generates. Police officers who compete in this annual event train harder than officers who do not. These factors translate into higher skill levels which directly benefits the public.
It is the goal of the Stafford Township Police Department to foster confidence and respect through our performance in events such as the annual Ocean County Police Chiefs Pistol Match.
