The Environmental Commission is an advisory board which reviews all development applications that come before the Planning Board or Zoning Board of Adjustment. The Environmental Commission also makes ordinance recommendations to protect and preserve the environmental quality of the Township.
The Environmental Commission meets on the 1st Monday of each month (excluding holidays). The meetings begin at 7:30 PM.
The Environmental Commission organizes the Township's annual Arbor Day celebration. The Arbor Day event is the culmination of teaching the students, K through 12, environmental awareness through a poster, poem and essay contest and other hands on experiences.
This year's theme is “O.A.K.” for Our Animal Kingdom. The celebration and awards ceremony will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 3:45 PM at the Ocean Acres Community Center located at 489 Nautilus Drive in Manahawkin.
