Motor Vehicle Crash Rt 9 / Mayetta Landing Road 9/7/2016
On Wednesday 9/7/2016 at 7:36 PM Stafford Police responded to a 2 vehicle head-on collision on Route 9 at Mayetta Landing Road. Paige Spano, 20 of Tuckerton, NJ was traveling south on Route 9 in a 1995 Geo Metro approaching the intersection of Mayetta Landing Road when a 2013 Chrysler 300 operated by Eileen King, 51 of Cedar Run, NJ crossed over the center line crashing into Spano’s vehicle.
Spano suffered extensive injuries and was airlifted by PennStar to Atlantic City Trauma Center for treatment. King was transported to Southern Ocean Medical Center for minor injuries by Stafford EMS. King also had a juvenile passenger, age 5 on board at the time of the collision. The juvenile was not in a child restraint and suffered moderate injury. The juvenile was airlifted by MonOc to Jersey Shore Trauma Center and was expected to be released shortly.
The reason King crossed over the center line is pending investigation however charges of Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane and Failure to secure a child in a child restraint have been issued. Route 9 was detoured around the crash scene for approximately 4 hours.
The collision is currently under investigation by Stafford Police Traffic Safety Officer Pascale and the by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. Any witnesses are asked to contact 609-597-1189 X8436.
